Founded in 1991, Lone Cone Outfitters is headquartered on the "Eagles' Nest Ranch", which is located on the north slope of the famous "Lone Cone" Mountain approximately 20 miles south of Norwood, Colorado.

Many Ponies Outfit

From June into October we operate the Many Ponies Outfit on "El Prado" formerly part of Faraway Ranch on Wilson Mesa just 20 minutes from Telluride, Colorado. During the rest of the year we operate out of the Many Ponies Ranch in Norwood, Colorado. In 1990 we created the Many Ponies Outfit after nine years of a nomadic lifestyle working on Guest Ranches. Between 1981 and 1989 we had the experience of working at several quality guest ranches in Wyoming, Montana, Arizona and Colorado as a wrangler-management team. The Skyline Guest Ranch brought us to the Telluride area in 1986. We enjoy teaching people partnership with horses and useful riding techniques; sharing and exploring new elements of horsemanship; and riding in beautiful country with genuine people. Norwood Activities and Events

Norwood also provides its residents with the best in terms of recreational escapes as well. The various cycling, hiking and mountaineering attractions throughout Norwood will have all members of the family from all walks of life both entertained and engaged. Norwood and the nearby areas offer mountain bikers a variety of trails to explore, ranging from rolling dirt roads and trails through the aspen and spruce forests to challenging ascents and descents of the high mountain passes. Mountain biking is also available in the nearby national forest and the vast and beautiful Uncompaghre Plateau offers trails for all levels. The surrounding national forest provides great local hikes and camping. Five of Colorado's Fourteeners, or peaks higher than 14,000 feet, are visible from Wright's Mesa. All of these natural wonders and more await outdoor enthusiasts in Norwood!

Rock Climbing

Since Norwood is situated atop the 7,000-foot Wright’s Mesa, this area is ideal for many different types of rock climbing and bouldering activities. At the Natural Area Climbing near Norwood, residents can enjoy their favorite activity year round. Even world-class ice climbing in Ouray and Telluride are nearby, making Norwood the perfect spot for all your outdoor adventures.
